the other 用于两者之间或两部分之间 one----the other常用搭配。

此题中Some like running;some like swimming ;__________like ball games.

明显有三部分，所以the other不合适。other 表示 其他的 没有具体几部分的

范围限制，只要是其他的意思就可以。

others 其它的（复数）
the other 另外的（如果后面不加别的词是显单数），用在这里的话要用 the other students 才行

the other 表示两个人或物中的另一个。others 泛指另外的人或物。根据句意，选B.
