On the 7th of September,2012,two earthquakes hit Yunnan,and Guizhou provinces in China,at 11:19am,and 12:16respectively.The earthquakes measured 5.7 and 5.6 on the Richter scale,and caused tremendous damage in surronding areas,as well as many casualties.
Road blockages due to landslides,poverty in earthquake affected areas,and inferior earthquake resistant construction were cited as reasons for the high number of casualties.Local governments have initiated emergency procedures.Emergency personnel are searching for survivors and caring for the injured.
