There is no single diagnostic method for this purpose.
However, one can use FT-IR to verify if polymer formulations are correctly blended, use DSC to check for contamination, use a capillary rheometer to determine the melt viscosity. By use of a combination of other analytical techniques eg. GC-MS, HPLC, XRF and TGA, it is possible to obtain detailed knowledge of polymer composition. Molecular weight distributions can be determined using GPC techniques. Chemical structural information can also be gained using a variety of NMR techniques.
