work on sth.就有“直接平面接触”地作用于宾语，具体地改变宾语的状态的意思；

而work at sth.就没有那么具体直接，它只表示“点存在”，
work at 从事，致力于……

work for 为……做事，为……尽力，被……雇佣者

work out 可以解决，设计出，算出，计算出，消耗完
挤出去

work in 引进，配合

work as 作为....的工作
i work the butter in the flour
i work at biology
i work as a management for a design company
i work on my news article all night
i work with my groups
can you work the bill out?
My brother works on writing.
I worked out this math problom at last.

in the bed是指在被窝里,
而ON THE BED就是指客观的"在床上",比如把一个帽子放在床上,就用这个词组.
in the bed 睡着了，或者是躺在床上,特别是在床上呆了一阵子了。（因为英英字典的解释是：after a very lengthy period of time）
in bed尤指在行房过程中或者在床上做事的过程中。比如：He performs well in bed. 又如：Jack and Jane had breakfast in bed.

prefer to do rather than (to) do “宁愿……而不……”
She preferred to go with us rather than stay behind.他宁愿和我们一道去，而不愿留下。
prefer A to B (= like A better than B) “喜欢A而不喜欢B/喜欢A胜过喜欢B”
I prefer dogs to cats. 我喜欢狗不喜欢猫。
would rather表示"宁愿"

would rather do
would rather not do
would rather… than… 宁愿……而不愿。

还有would sooner, had rather, had sooner都表示"宁愿"、"宁可"的意思。

If I have a choice, I had sooner not continue my studies at this school.
I would rather stay here than go home. = I would stay here rather than go home.

答案B。本题考查情态动词rather的用法，would rather +do sth 意为"宁愿"，本题为疑问句，would 提前，所以选B。

work at与work on作"从事于"时无明显区别,可互换。但work at侧重于表示"克服,解决"之意;work on侧重于表示"致力于创作或发现"之意，后面所接的事务不一定是某种具体的事务，可能是某一类或别的抽象名词，起修饰work作用;work at可用于各种时态,work on一般用于进行时或完成时，后接具体事务，具体作那件事;work out意为"解决,找到……答案",侧重于得出结果。如:
① He liked to work at difficult problems in mathematics. 他喜欢做数学难题。
② Then he started to work on it (the problem). 接着他开始演算那道数学题。
③ How could he work it (the mathematics problem) out? 他是怎样算出那道数学题的呢?

in bed表示“躺在床上、卧病在床”，短语中的bed不指具体的床，故前在不用冠词，in也不能改成on。

e.g.Do I have to stay in bed all day? 我必须整天呆在床上吗？

e.g.Reading in bed is bad for your eyes. 躺在床上看书对你的眼睛有害。

on the/one’s bed表示“在某张/某人的床上”，也可改为in the/one’s bed。

e.g. She saw a new red box on her bed. 在她的床上，她看见一个新的红盒子。

e.g. Her skirt is on the bed. 她的裙子在那张床上（放着）。
